3rd GRADE DICTIONARIES

Each year the Rotary Club of Rochelle donates dictionaries to the 3rd grade students at Central School. These dictionaries help the students by giving them a greater understanding and appreciation of the English Language. Here, some of Mrs. Andrews' students make use of these dictionaries.

REWARD RECESS

The third grade classes all filled in a reward banner about the same time. It just so happened that the snow was perfect, so all the kids were able to play in the snow at the prairie. Thank you Mother Nature. As you can see everyone had a great time sledding.

MILLION MINUTE CHALLENGE CONTINUES

Central School students set a lofty goal of reading 1,000,000 minutes by the end of the school year! Each student has a personal goal of 400 minutes per month of reading outside of school. At the end of each month, the kids return their reading calendars. If the kids reach their goal, there will be a school-wide carnival at the end of the year. For the month of December, the students read 148,886 minutes.

In addition, each classroom teacher names a “star reader” for the month, which is someone who has worked really hard on their reading during the month. The star readers from each class get $5 in Cougar Cash to spend at the school store. Those readers include....

MATH PRACTICE

Students in Mrs. Frankfother's 5th grade class at Central School take advantage of the computer lab to work on improving their math skills in preparation for the ISAT tests.

GEOGRAPHY BEE

4th and 5th grade students at Central School competed in a Geography Bee. The students competed, answering questions on different topics having to do with geography. The top two students from each class then went on to the finals. In the final round, the students did an excellent job answering questions and were great thinkers! Congratulations to all Central School classroom Geography Bee winners!
