the office – The doors in our building are locked for
security. Entrance to our building is through the front
door. In our effort to keep your child safe in our school
environment we enforce the rule of signing in.
Teacher
Meetings – Please call ahead to arrange a visit with a
teacher, We cannot put calls through to teachers while they are
instructing. We ask that you set up visits to the classroom ahead
of time through a note or call. If you are dropping things off,
we will deliver them to the classroom so we don't disturb instruction.
Transportation
~ Parents we are asking you to set your child's mode of transportation
ahead of time. Please decide one mode and you and your child
stick to it unless a temporary change or emergency arises. Then
send a note to the teacher or as a last resort an emergency call to the
office. It is truly difficult if we get several parents calling
in daily to change transportation. It is too easy for your child
or us to get confused and do the wrong thing.

Manners Matter at MayEach week we are working
on 2
different “rules”, which are basically good manners. Ask
your child what we are
working on each week.

May School Attendance
Be safe! Be caring! Be respectful! Be here! Be ready!
PARENTS MUST CALL THE SCHOOL OFFICE WHEN A CHILD IS GOING TO BE ABSENT. CALLS SHOULD BE BETWEEN 8-8:30AM.
Excused Absences: Section 26-2a of the Illinois School Code considers the following circumstances to be valid causes for a student's absence:
Unexcused Absences: Any full-day or partial day absence which is not called in by a parent within 2 hours of the beginning of the school day shall for the reasons identified as “excused absences” will be termed “unexcused”. A parent's call does not make the absence excused if the reason for the absence is not excusable (e.g. Shopping, sleep, hunting, babysitting, car problems, etc.)
After 6 unexcused tardies or 2 unexcused absences, or a combination of the two, a warning letter will be sent informing the parents of the current attendance concern.
After 9 unexcused tardies or 3 unexcused absences, or a combination of the two, a request for a one-time intervention will be made.
After 15 unexcused tardies or 5 unexcused absences, or a combination of the two, the parents and student will be referred to the Lee-Ogle Regional Office of Education LODIS Truancy Intervention/Prevention Program for assistance.
Tardy Policy: 3 unexcused tardies equal 1 unexcused absence. Students will excessive tardies or absences may be referred to the Lee/Ogle Regional Office of Education LODIS Truancy Intervention/Prevention Program for assistance.
Referral: A referral may be made to the Lee-Ogle Regional Office of Education LODIS Truancy Intervention/Prevention Program after 9 unexcused absences during the previous 180 days of school attendance.
Vacation Policy: Family trips/vacations will be excused for a maximum of 5 days per school year. More than 5 days will be considered unexcused. Notification of family trips must be made at least 10 days in advance. If possible, all family trips should be planned so students will not miss school. If not possible, this policy goes into effect.
Medical Excuse: After 10 absences per school year, to excuse each absence thereafter, a physician's note stating specific medical reasons for the student's absence will be required within 24 hours of the student's return to school. While seeking a medical excuse, the student's parent or guardian must still comply with absence notification procedures. Should a parent or guardian choose not to secure a medical excuse, the absence will be considered unexcused. Medical notes must state specific days that a student is excused from school and be signed by a doctor.
