ORIENTATION NIGHT 2009-10

Welcome to a new school year, and welcome to Team 7-1! We hope your summer was terrific and restful so you're ready to charge into seventh grade.

Late assignment policy

Daily classroom assignments-Only 50% credit will given on any assignment turned in after it is due. Late assignment will be accepted until the next mid-term or the next end of the quarter, depending on the assignments due date. The student handbook policy pertaining to absence will be followed.

Projects-Because guidelines and deadlines will be given in advance of due dates, late projects will be accepted one day after they are due for 50% credit. When a project is assigned, teachers will send a letter home with students regarding project information, expectations, and deadlines. All parents will be asked to sign and return the form to school.

Tests and quizzes

In case of absence, tests must be made up within five days at a specific time arranged by the student and teacher. Some make-ups may be before or after school, in which case transportation arrangements will have to be made by the parent, if necessary.

Student hall passes

Students will be allowed a maximum of three restroom or water fountain passes per week. These will be written within the students' agendas on the day they are used. If students wish to visit the library, office, or another classroom, they will have to use one of the passes provided at the back of their agendas. These passes are divided by quarters. If they have used all their passes for the quarter, additional passes will be given only on rare occasions. This is left to the discretion of the teachers and based on the urgency of the situation.

Grade postings on the school website

Friday is a great day to check grades each week. Teachers will update grades on Wednesday so the updated grade should be posted by Friday. If you do not see updated grades by then, refresh your browser window. If the report does not change, please notify the teacher.

Homework posting

Assignments will be posted daily. Please check the middle school website.

Student-led Conferences

We will be doing student-led conferences again this year. Under the guidance of a team teacher, students will discuss their academic progress with their parents.

Please feel free to contact any of the team teachers if any questions arise.
