Congratulations to RTHS teacher Nelson Baker for speaking at the recent SOAR (Supporting Opportunities & Access to Rigorous Coursework) Conference at Glenbard South High School. His topic was - How to Navigate the SAT to ACT Transition for Science.
The RTHS Music Department had a busy weekend ringing in the holiday season by putting on the 36th Annual Madrigal Dinner at Calvary Lighthouse Church. In addition to the two dinners, we've also brought back the matinee performances, so the middle schools were able to come and have an experience the show. Every performance was filled with a lively audience! Bravo to all performers involved!

Student Council showed their appreciation for our RTHS staff this morning by hosting an amazing breakfast celebration with a raffle and fun prizes! So proud of these kids and our awesome teachers!
Today Mrs. Flanagan's Dual Credit Intro to Education students presented their proposals for their first Team-based Challenge, checking off another requirement for the Illinois Pathways Certification. A huge thank you to our mentors, Dr. Harper, Dr. Lewis, and Mrs. Hacaga, and our teacher evaluators, Ms. Karner and Ms. Jamison. (Then this evening, some of the students organized the Educators Rising table at our 8th Grade Curriculum Night, answering questions and encouraging kids to consider becoming a teacher.)
Our 8th Grade Curriculum Night was a tremendous success! Thank you to all the families who attended and to our amazing staff and students for showcasing various organizations.
Our current students have selflessly volunteered over 22,600 hours over their time here at RTHS. There are so many opportunities to volunteer your time and talents. Aubry Simms and her mom recently helped prepare gift-filled shoeboxes at Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child to be sent to children around the world. Student Council teamed up with the local food pantry for our annual turkey distribution at Prescott Brothers Ford this morning! Our students bundled up and worked together to distribute turkeys and Thanksgiving food boxes to the community members of Rochelle.
To celebrate French Week this week, students in French classes raised awareness of Francophone culture, made foods and enjoyed crepes!
This week's Hub Award winner is Jocelyn Cervantes. Since she has arrived at RTHS, she has blossomed into a confident, humorous, hard-working student. She has also taken on more leadership roles within the building, and brightens up RTHS with her positivity and good nature. We are thankful that she's a Hub!
SILVER SERVICE OPPORTUNITY! The Rochelle Christian Food Pantry is looking for volunteers to help distribute their Thanksgiving meal kits tomorrow morning.
