Are you interested in learning about the trades and gaining hands-on experience this summer? There will be two Heavy Metal Camps, one in DeKalb and one Rockford, specifically designed for students aged 15-19 who are interested in pursuing careers in the sheet metal, piping, and plumbing trades.
~ Camp Highlights:
*Hands-on learning: Work on real projects and gain valuable skills in sheet metal, piping, and plumbing.
*Union connections: Build relationships with union professionals and training facilities.
*Summer fun: Learn while having fun and making new friends who share your interest in the trades.

Kishwaukee College's One Stop Event is Coming Soon! Seniors who are attending Kish in the fall of 2026 will have the opportunity to participate in the One Stop Event on April 14th. The One Stop is an all day event that takes place during the students' school hours.
At this event, students will have the opportunity to:
✅Complete enrollment steps
✅Take placement tests
✅Meet with an academic advisor
✅Register for classes
✅Connect with Student Support Services
✏️Please sign up in the Counseling Center before Spring Break if you plan on attending. Space is limited, so sign up by March 20th.
🚌Transportation will be provided from RTHS.

➡️Class starts on June 8 - July 1.
➡️Class meets 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) from 8am-12pm.
➡️This class is run by a Kishwaukee College Teacher here at RTHS.
➡️Class is open to current Juniors.
➡️Register in the Counseling Center. $25 deposit due when registering. Balance of $150 due by May 15th.

What are the core American values? That question was explored in essay form by many local students, including several of our own RTHS students.
American Legion Post 403 representatives visited RTHS on Tuesday, March 3rd to present contest winners with cash awards, prizes, and certificates in recognition of their outstanding Americanism essays.
Magdalene Good and Elijah Good each earned first place in their respective age divisions, advancing their essays to the district level of competition. Caden Goodwin and Layla Block received second place honors, and Yaneli Ledesma earned third place.
Congratulations to all of the participants, and best of luck to Magdalene and Elijah as they move on to the next level!
