Our RTHS students have been busy turning in their Fall Silver Service Volunteer Hours! They are doing a great job volunteering their time and talents to benefit a variety of non-profit organizations ranging from helping out a neighbor to volunteering at Feed my Starving Children to working at the HUB Program! We have a great group of volunteers here at RTHS and hope to have more students join in next semester and beyond!
The Class of 2025 is currently in the lead with 7,566 total hours volunteered during their time at RTHS with 33% of them volunteering. Next are our Seniors with 7,476 volunteer hours and 35% of them volunteering. Working hard is our Sophomore class with 3,717 volunteer hours and 23% of them volunteering. Finally, our Freshman who have already turned in 1,076 hours in their short time here and have 24% of them volunteering!

Reminder this is tonight, December 18th at 7 pm in the auditorium! We invite parents of sophomores and juniors to an informational session on Dual Credit and AP classes. Our discussion will cover course insights, associated costs, savings when choosing these classes over Kish or a 4-year university, available courses, and the committed educators involved. Information will be available at the counseling center if you cannot attend. We want to provide this information to parents and students before the scheduling process kicks off in January. ¡Reserva la fecha para el lunes 18 de Diciembre a las 7 pm! Invitamos a los padres de estudiantes de segundo y tercer año a una sesión informativa sobre crédito dual y clases AP. Nuestra discusión cubrirá información sobre los cursos, los costos asociados, los ahorros al elegir estas clases en lugar de Kish o una universidad de 4 años, los cursos disponibles y los educadores comprometidos involucrados. NHS members had a great time enjoying cookies and listening to the sounds of the season while wrapping gifts that they purchased for a Rochelle family this holiday season.
The RTHS Speech Team won the team competition at the Byron Holiday Classic. Of the 18 teams in the competition Rochelle walked away in 1st Place. Congratulations to our speakers of the week, William Wise and Khalil Winston! Individuals who earned finalist honors are included in the pictures below!

The FFA dairy products evaluation team is checked in and ready to compete at the state competition.
Dr. Lewis and Government Teacher Mr. Reynolds had a great day with the KEC Business Leadership Class, exploring professions in law enforcement and the judicial system at the Dekalb County Sheriff's Office and Courthouse. Students we able to observe a trial and participate in a mock trial. Students taking this yearlong class will receive 3 credits of Dual Credit in Business 107. #weRhubs
RTHS would like to congratulate this week's Hub Award winner, Austin Squires. Multiple teachers have mentioned that Austin is a positive influence in the classroom. He's been described as a leader, hard worker, motivated, enthusiastic, and a joy to have in class. Congrats to Austin!
Andrew Nuyen is the 1st RTHS student to earn his Ignite 1 certificate! To earn this certificate, he had to complete all 6 rotations this semester, plus a safety and career readiness block ! The 6 rotations include: *Robotics *AC/DC *Pneumatics *CAD *Machine Automation (PLCs) *Electrical Relay #bridgingtheskillsgap

Congratulations to the following students who were selected as Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Selection for this recognition is based on a combination of SAT scores and GPA after their junior year.
This past Saturday the Speech Team competed in the DeKalb Corn Classic. Of the 22 teams in the tournament Rochelle earned 2nd place (!!!), with Reavis earning the top spot.
