The IL Army National Guard and Congressman Darin LaHood’s office are hosting an informational session for students and parents that will provide valuable insights into the application process, requirements, and career pathways associated with prestigious military academies such as WEST POINT, NAVAL ACADEMY, AIR FORCE ACADEMY, ECT. Their goal is to equip students with the knowledge and resources they need to successfully pursue this path. This event will take place in Machesney Park, at the IL Army National Guard Armory on April 21st. This is a very rare opportunity for students to get the chance to directly hear and speak to representatives from these Academies. Please see the flyer for more info.

What is my favorite National Memorial or Monument? This question was answered in essay form by many of our local students including some of our very own RTHS sophomores. Chuck Roberts and Steve Korth from American Legion Post 403 were at RTHS today to present the contest winners with cash, prizes and certificates for their outstanding Americanism essays. Magdalene Good received 1st place in Division II (Freshman and Sophomores) which qualifies her essay to compete at the District level. Kathryn Groves received 2nd place and Derek Swartz received 3rd. Congratulations to all the participants and best of luck at the next level, Magdalene. Pictured from left to right are Chuck Roberts, Derek Swartz, Magdalene Good, Kathryn Groves, and Steve Korth.

Congrats to Lucas Smardo for winning the Hub Award. We appreciate all Lucas does to help make RTHS a better place. Whether it's his involvement in choir and band/jazz band, his time in the office being an office monitor, or his leadership within the classroom, Lucas helps make the people around him better. RTHS is lucky to have him. Thank you, Lucas!
