Why am I proud to be an American? This question was answered in essay form by many of our local students including some of our very own RTHS students. John Gruben and Steve Korth from American Legion Post 403 were at RTHS to present the contest winners with cash, prizes and certificates for their outstanding Americanism essays. Jessica Nguyen and Magdalene Good both received 1st place in their respective divisions, which qualifies their essays to compete at the state level. Congratulations to all the participants and best of luck at the next level, Jessica and Magdalene.

Along with her busy extra curricular schedule, she has managed to spend over 40 hours as a math tutor here at school for students needing extra help. She also volunteered for Make a difference Day where she worked in the community. She recently volunteered her time at the REC Center when they were in need of help in their concession stand. In the past, Julia has also helped the Flagg Township Library with their Summer Reading program and volunteered as a Bible School helper. Today, Julia was presented with a gift card to a local business, a certificate and a pin from the Rochelle Rotary Club.
